Hosted by the PAC Network, the 16th edition of France’s Spring of Contemporary Art (Printemps de l’Art Contemporain) is set to take place from May 2 to May 19, 2024, in Marseille and its surrounding areas. This highly anticipated event will span across 60 art venues in the south of France, offering audiences a vibrant feast of contemporary art.
The festival will kick off with a grand weekend in Marseille, followed by nocturnal exhibitions across various districts, and conclude with a grand finale in collaboration with the Aix-en-Provence Biennial in the Provence region. Shuttle buses will transport art enthusiasts to towns around the Aix region and Berre, facilitating their participation in a multitude of exhibitions and activities.
Over 150 emerging artists from France and abroad are invited, ensuring a dynamic fusion of artistic expressions at one of France’s leading contemporary art gatherings.
Since its inception in 2007, the Provence Contemporary Art Network has united entities from both the public and private sectors dedicated to contemporary creation, spanning venues in urban centers and rural landscapes.
During the Spring of Contemporary Art in Marseille, network members join forces with affiliated organizations of the festival, collectively working towards fostering creativity, artists, and collaboration. Their collective spirit emphasizes inclusivity, extending art activities to diverse social settings such as schools, prisons, and hospitals.
The festival will open on May 2 at 5 pm with a lively night-time celebration in districts including the Marseille Opera House, Préfecture, Cours Julien, and Camas. The celebration will commence with a public performance attended by Jean-Marc Coppola, Deputy Mayor of Marseille in charge of culture, creativity, cultural heritage, and cinema.
