The Spring/Summer 2025 menswear collection designed by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons delves into the contemporary notions of truth and fabrication, blurring the lines between what is real and what is not. It challenges our perceptions of reality, urging us to look closer and reassess.
At the heart of the collection is the theme of “intimacy,” symbolizing the human yearning for closeness and connection. This sense of intimacy also influences our perceptions; from a distance, some pieces might seem like one thing, their details seemingly simple and naive. Yet, upon closer inspection, these details shift our perspective.
Garments with wired details bring life to collars and hems, as if they were alive themselves. These clothes are intentionally wrinkled and aged, bearing the marks of time, with imperfections serving as reminders of life and authenticity. Unusual long or short exaggerated proportions are instinctively blended together—like a superhero sweater redesigned for a new environment. Artwork by Bernard Buffet is printed on clothing, akin to concert T-shirts. Items from different sources are thoughtfully compiled together.
The atmosphere exudes a sense of freedom, youthful hope, and vitality. Inside the Deposito of the Prada Foundation, a fairy-tale-like revelry scene is set, bringing people together. Beside it sits a cabin, the most fundamental of structures, symbolizing the basic and essential, reflected in the collection’s simple and unadorned garments. In this utopian idea, the realm of imagination introduces a new form of reality.
