Félix Lefebvre stars in Delphine Deloget’s directorial debut, “Rien à Perdre”, which garnered a nomination at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.

In 2015, Delphine Deloget won an award at the Albert-London Film Festival for her work in the audiovisual category. This week, she made her directorial debut at the Cannes Film Festival with “Rien à Perdre” (All for Cinema), a film that received a nomination for the “Un Certain Regard” award, marking a significant first-time achievement.

The film unfolds the story of Sylvie, who lives in Brest with her two children, Sofiane and Jean-Jacques, forming a closely-knit family unit. One night, Sofiane is injured alone at home while his mother is at work. After Sofiane files a report, he is placed in a foster home. With the support of a lawyer, her brother, and the unconditional love of her children, Sylvie remains hopeful, believing in her strength over bureaucratic and judicial obstacles.

Félix Lefebvre, portraying Jean-Jacques, showcases his talent in this film. On the occasion of the film’s release, Lefebvre revisits his interview with CRASH magazine from September 2021:

Félix Lefebvre on His Cinematic Journey

2020 was a year of contrasts for Lefebvre: marking the release of his first major film during a challenging period for French cinema. He shares his experience of releasing a film amidst the pandemic, expressing pride in being part of a project that brought comfort to audiences during trying times. Lefebvre reflects on the missed opportunity to attend Cannes due to the festival’s postponement, yet remains grateful for the eventual experience.

Discussing his role in “Summer of 85”, Lefebvre delves into the process of embodying Alexis, focusing on the character’s humanity against the backdrop of the 1980s. He praises François Ozon’s modern perspective on the portrayal of homosexuality and the universal nature of the love story depicted.

Preparation for his role involved immersing himself in the era’s culture, including films and music recommended by Ozon. Lefebvre highlights the importance of collaboration with co-stars and directors in bringing a character to life.

On his relationship with François Ozon, Lefebvre describes a bond that transcends the professional, acknowledging the director’s talent and humility. He also shares insights into his personal connection to nature and environmental concerns, contrasting the carefree youth of the 80s with the environmental consciousness of his generation.

Looking ahead, Lefebvre discusses “Suprêmes”, his upcoming film set to premiere at Cannes. Unlike his experience with Ozon, this project presents a different cinematic universe, showcasing the diversity of the film industry.

Lefebvre’s journey reflects a deep passion for storytelling, whether on stage or screen. His experiences underscore the unpredictability of life and the beauty of embracing opportunities as they come, a philosophy that resonates throughout his work.
